HOPKINS VACUUM LEAF PICK UP 11/4 TROUGH 11/7

This year the HSTA in partnership with Hopkins Evergreens is pleased to offer vacuum leaf pick up 11/4 through 11/7.

  • Hopkins is not doing every street every day. Please refer to the color-coded map on the community website for your street and pick up date! These dates (11/4-11/7) were selected to allow for maximum leaf drop and help residents remove as many leaves as possible prior winter weather.
  • Residents can blow and/or rake their leaves to the street/parkway strip (the grass between sidewalk and street), as close to the curb as possible for pick up by the Hopkins Evergreens vacuum truck. This will not get rid of ALL your leaves but will help a lot of residents tackle this hefty chore!
  • ONLY pile leaves for the vacuum truck. Branches and larger debris will break the fan in the vacuum. If your piles include anything other than leaves, they will NOT be picked up.
  • On Street parking directly impacts the crew’s ability to pick up leaves. The crews will skip any section blocked by cars parked on the street. Park in your driveway, garage or on an already cleared street to allow for maximum leaf pick up!
  • Review the map with color coded sections corresponding to leaf vacuum dates. Hopkins is not doing every street every day! Find your street, note the color, note the day your leaves need to be ready to go by 9:00 am!

Pink = Friday November 4 Orange = Saturday November 5 Blue = Sunday November 6 Green = Monday November 7 Purple = Common Areas Hopkins regular maintenance schedule

  • Please take a little extra time when raking your leaves to clean out the gutter in front of your home. Leaves left in the gutter will wash down and clog up the storm drains leading to pooling water and eventually patches of ice on the roadway. Encourage your neighbors to do the same or help them out if they are out of town or physically unable.
  • The community farm is NOT accepting leaves this year to maintain optimal growing conditions. Please DO NOT DUMP any leaves or other debris at the community farm or working barn.

HARDIN SANITATION FALL LEAF COLLECTION

During the first 4 weeks of November (ONLY), Hardin Sanitation will pick up bagged leaves on regularly scheduled collection days. Please set out your leaves in Kraft paper bags. For more information, visit https://www.hardinsanitation.com/ada/residential/.

ADA COUNTY TRASH/RESIDENTIAL SERVICE GUIDELINES

In case you missed the notice in your last Ada County Trash Billing Statement, effective October 1, 2022 all residential waste in unincorporated Ada County must be contained within a garbage container provided by the County’s waste collection contractor Hardin Sanitation. Ada County Commissioners recently approved Ordinance No. 938, amending Ada County Code Title 5, Chapter 2 providing for the exclusive use of wheeled plastic carts available from the

contractor. Personal store-bought trash cans, boxes, plastic bags, bundled waste, and/or any other loose items will no longer be collected as part of your regular garbage service. These items need to be placed in a Hardin Sanitation cart to be picked up. Additional carts are available for a small monthly fee. To order, please call Hardin Sanitation at (208) 642-2629.

UPCOMING TOWN COUNCIL MEETINGS

Town Council Meetings are held monthly in the Community Clubhouse starting at 7:30pm. Hidden Springs Sewer Company business is addressed first and open to both Hidden Springs and Cartwright Ranch residents. Hidden Springs Town Association business is addressed second followed by an executive session (if needed). The next meetings are 11/10 (moved to Thursday night instead of Tuesday due to election) and 12/6 with the Annual Member Meeting 12/13 to be held in the Hidden Springs Elementary School Cafeteria.

COMMUNITY FARM WRAPPING UP THE SEASON / COMPOST STATION CLOSED

The Community Farm Season is coming to an end. Volunteers are meeting Monday, 10/31 at 10:00am to Noon to spread straw mulch over the newly-planted garlic, pull irrigation lines, harvest cold-tolerant crops and tackle a few other final tasks. Extra hands are welcome! The Farm Compost Station is CLOSED now through Spring 2023. Please DO NOT DUMP any more food or waste at the community farm until further notice! Please do not dump leaves, yard waste or trash at the community farm or working barn.

COMMUNITY EVENTS REMINDER

Hidden Springs Community Events hosted by the Association are for Hidden Springs Town Association (HSTA) AND Cartwright Ranch Town Association (CRTA) residents. Due to increased costs associated with events, supplies, talent, required road signage etc. plus additional items like insurance and permits (needed to cover non-members of the Association attending), combined with the inability and desire not to “limit” or “control” attendance, HSTA needed to consider being inclusive of our expanded community. The HSTA conducted an Event Survey in 2019 and HSTA members were asked how they felt about sharing events and costs with Cartwright Ranch residents (Cartwright Ranch contributing per household like Hidden Springs residents). Of those that responded, 88% were in support. Based on this, the Town Council agreed to reach out to CRTA to see if they were amenable. They were and CRTA now contributes annually with a sponsorship check equal to the hard costs of events divided by the number of members in their association. Currently, HSTA does not contribute to CR events. Therefore, CR events are typically limited to their community. This agreement can be changed however, if HSTA members desire to keep the current lineup of events, plus add more or sponsor CRTA events, the HOA assessment will need to be increased to cover the additional costs.
