Young Naturalists
2014 Young Naturalist Program

The Hidden Springs Young Naturalists program, sponsored by the Town Association and designed for ages 7-13. provides the youth of Hidden Springs an opportunity to develop and value their own sense of place and appreciation for the unique ecologicalsetting and agricultural heritage of the Dry Creek Valley. Discovering the natural world and their relationship with it, Young Naturalists experiencea range of activitiesthrough close study of nature, expressing their experience through personal narrative, mapping, musical, visual, theatrical and story-telling creative arts.
A Young Naturalist is a self-directed student of life, at once curious and knowledgeable about their surroundings, caring deeply about their community and its inhabitants, and experiencing an inner calm through their relationship with nature and grounded sense of place. As a way of being, Young naturalists are mindful: practicing paying close attention with kindness and curiosity to external and intenal stimuli, discovering their innate capability to choose responses instead of reacting out of habitual patterns.
